Ok, I will tell the truth. Having your knee replaced is not a wonderful box of chocolate or a beautiful basket of roses. IT is painful, annoying, and a bit scary. But I did it and I know that in time I will be pain free and very mobile and back to doing what I want.
People might say, but don’t you always do what you want.? Well no. I love to hike. Believe me, bone on bone pain stops your hiking, and your even wanting to walk to the mail box. It stops you from wanting to get up and go and do things. You become very sedentary and start to lack the motivation to enjoy the things you want to do. Arthritis pain is bad, but you do have the option of taking a pill or injections that will manage the pain. When there is nothing to manage your pain, you want to give up.
Rehab is great. I know that there will be days that I want to scream because of the pain, and days that I will want to give up, but in three months time I will be essentially healed and ready to go, So I go ahead and Scream, when I am at home and it hurts, but I will not give up, even when I feel like a now have a tree trunk for a leg. there is pain meds that I can take now that help with the pain, and I am grateful for that. Ice packs are also wonderful to help with the swelling.
Well, that’s all the news from the south,
