Tuesdays Tunes

Today we were in Schleswig-Holstein Germany.  The country side is beautiful   We went to the town of Eutin and walked around.  It is known for its roses.  One of the “Kings” loved roses so he asked that everyone plant roses.   There are roses everywhere.  We visited the castle there that was built in 1160. The castle is known for it English style gardens  We also visited St Michael’s Church (Lutheran) which was beautiful  We then rode the coach back to Plon where we had a wonderful lunch.,

Lunch was a nice fresh salad schnitzel, creamed peas and scalloped potatoes and of course German Beer.. For Dessert we had a fruit “jam” made with the fresh fruits that were in season with a lovely cream on top.  Oh my,  that was so good.

After lunch, we went on a boat ride on the Plon on See. It is a huge lake and even though the day was cloudy, the ride was so serene and beautiful.  there were ducks and geese and swans on the lake.   We ended up in the city district of Plon and walked around and did a bit of shopping.  We also saw the more modern Lutheran church there.  It was very nice inside, and not as modern as one would have thought. It was actually done in the Romanticist revival and it was called St Nicholas.  It had rounded windows and barrel vaulted ceilings.  After that back to the boat
