I did not share the story about what happen when I was out hunting last week. I am sitting in the blind waiting for something to appear. I had heard cracking, or breaking of branches off to the side, and I was looking intently in that direction. All of a sudden I heard what sounded like footsteps behind me. now they sounded like a human walking up to the blind. but right behind the blind is the fence line, so that made it sound like they were coming from the property next door and crossing the fence.
I am sitting there, a bit panic stricken thinking that someone was about to open the door to the blind, and I had no idea who it would be. I took my rifle and pointed it at the door just in case. The footsteps kept getting closer and closer. And I kept waiting for a hand to appear on the door to open it. just as I was about to totally freak, a movement caught my eye and I turned and looked to see 5 hen turkeys walk out from under the blind and go to the food station where I had just put out corn for the deer. Not humans, but dang turkeys. Really? I had no idea that turkeys could walk in step like that. When I told another friend about it, he told me the same thing happen to him the week before, and he nearly freaked out, and it was the turkeys.
If it had been turkey season, and I had my cross bow with me, I would have had a few in the freezer for next year.
Well, that’s all the news from the south,
Happy” farming” to all the farm girl sisters out there.
