Wednesdays Words, DIY Ribbon Roses

I decided to use up some ribbon and made some ribbon roses.  These can be used on packages,  hair clips, coats for decorations, and many other  possibilities.  I have even made a quilt using ribbon flowers.  I learned how to make these from a book that was based on Celia Thaxter’s  Garden. (Ribbon Treasures From Celia’s Garden)

Cut six inches of green  ribbon that is wired  I had two different colors of green that I used.

Fold the ribbon in half and taking one side, expose the wire at both ends.  Pull on the wire to scrunch up the ribbon and then wire

Then using thread, sew the side together,  also gather up the ends bringing them into the sewn side.

T took two different organza ribbons and curled up one end into a bud shape,  I then tacked that down and gathered up the rest of the ribbon together using a running stitch.

After gathering up the rest of the ribbon and tightening it down I rolled the ribbon around the Rosebud base and stitched it down.  I allowed the ribbon to sit on the gathered section before it and tacked it down.  I then added the leaves.

I also did one using some lace and added some stamens and a smaller rose that could be used in a group effect.
