Mondays musings

We had a really nice week end, with rain of course.    But I got to hear a Pilliated Wood pecker call for the first time.  They sound sort of like a horse neighing.  Which is not a sound that I have heard on the farm for a long time. so of course that got my attention,  especially  since the sound came from near the back barn which is situated on the edge of the woods.  I literally asked if there was a horse back there.  My Hubby heard it about an hour later and was able to identify that it was a bird. I knew that we had woodpeckers here on the farm again,  but had never heard one calling.

I have put more plants in the side garden, and worked on the pump system today, so that the waterfall, will start to come together.  The garden is really starting to come together, and I am very happy.   we still have the pump house to finish and the fire pit to get in.  and then just let everything start growing.

I am going down to the gate in the morning and start trimming back some of the small oak trees so that I can shape them up a bit.  I want to redo the fence and gate this winter and incorporate some old metal wagon wheels that I own.  Also, the scrap man came and got all the extra scrap metal off the land that was growing back by the back barn,  So that was a good thing.  This winter I want to open that area up a bit and get some of the old fences down and cleaned up.

Well,  that’s all the news from the south,
Happy” farming” to all the farm girl sisters out there.
See you next time down on the farm.
