Well, I think that I have recovered from my whirlwind trip to Mexico. I certainly enjoyed my time there, but now it is back to business as usual. I did some canning last week after I got home. Three more quart jars of Tomato sauce and 9 quarts of zesty bread and butter pickles, and 7 quarts of Spicy pickles. I made those into spears, and the bread and butter are slices. I still want to find some fruit for some freezer jams. strawberry and blueberries would be good.
I also found out something interesting. I have wild oyster mushrooms growing on the farm. I found a large group of them up near the old barn and got some for dinner that night. They are very good. and I hope that I will find more. We are going to try to grow them and maybe some others soon, but the very fact that I found wild ones, made them taste all the better.
The chickens have been very happy because they have been getting all the table scraps from my canning and dinners with bits of peppers, and tomato and avocado .Makes for a good mix of extra nutrients to go with their food.
I am going to show some more scenes from Mexico today as well.
Well, that’s all the news from the south,
Happy” farming” to all the farm girl sisters out there.
See you next time down on the farm.
