Cheesy Hamburger Potato Casserole

Ingredients
- 1.5 pounds ground beef
- 1 yellow onion finely diced
- 4 pounds russet potatoes peeled and sliced into 1/4-inch pieces
- 2 cups grated cheddar cheese
- One 10.75-ounce can condensed cheddar soup
- One 12-ounce can evaporated milk
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Kosher salt to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C). Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray and set aside.
- Cook the Meat: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, combine the ground beef and diced onion. Season generously with salt and pepper. Cook until the beef is browned and no longer pink, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain any excess fat and set the cooked meat aside.
- Layer the Ingredients: In the prepared baking dish, place a layer of sliced potatoes, seasoning each layer with salt and pepper. Add 1/4 of the cooked beef and onion mixture, followed by 1/4 of the grated cheddar cheese. Repeat this layering process three more times for even distribution.
- Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the condensed cheddar soup, evaporated milk, milk, and garlic powder until smooth.
- Bake: Pour the sauce evenly over the layered ingredients in the baking dish. Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 60 minutes. After this time, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the sauce is bubbling.
- Serve: Remove the casserole from the oven and let it sit for a few minutes before serving to ensure it sets properly. Enjoy!
