Today was another beautiful but cold day. I sent sometime working in the garden, and also started working more on the pump house, which will look like a Japanese tea house when we get done. we got the cement blocks in and started with the sides and the top. there will be two doors on all sides to allow for working on the pump or any of the lines that run either to the house, the old farm house, or the gardens. It will probably take us several days to get everything done, especially the roof, which will transform it into the Japanese style.
We have also been working on eradication of the pine beetle WE have several dead trees, several being more the fifty in a 15 acre area, that were dead, so we have been cutting them down and removing them to the burn pile, where they have be flaming up nicely. Hopefully this will get them under control and next year wont be so bad.
The radishes are doing wonderful and we have already pulled a few to eat, the beans are up and the tomatoes have set some buds. But of course it is going to freeze tonight. This weather we are having is so out of caricature for Mid Fla. that no one knows quite what to do. Usually we are having weather in the mid to upper 70’s and the rain has started. This year, heavy freezes and not so much rain. I really want weather in the 70’s. I am tired of the cold.
Here are a few photos from around the farm.
Well, that’s all the news from the south,
Happy” farming” to all the farm girl sisters out there.
See you next time down on the farm.
