Spring is a beautiful time of the year on the farm.  The leaves are just beginning to show and flowers are blooming.  It is a time to assess what will be planted in the gardens, and what plants may need to be replaced or divided.    It is a time of renewal and rebirth.  We see lots of eastern bluebirds  starting their nests, and chickadees and sparrows visit the bird feeder for food.  I have seen the first Robin, and the beautiful cardinals are back.

The plants on the front porch are being fixed up after this brutal winter, and some succulents are being added to small flower pots.   The wind chimes are going up for the first time. and I will get the glider rocker up also .

The sad part of this is that the Sand Hill Cranes take leave of this area and fly north and west, leaving us with a few resident birds,  The farm is a wonderful area to watch the sky,  because we have several thermals here.  The birds will fly in and circle around over these thermals and gain altitude. and then start their long migration home.  It is amazing to be outside and hear their call as they circle up .  But I do miss them.   I will now keep my ears open for when they return in late fall.
